HST/PS 461 offers an advanced examination of the international affairs of the United States since approximately 1991, examining political, economic, strategic, and ideological factors.  We will analyze the effects of U.S. foreign policy at home and abroad.  The course covers a wide variety of subjects, including the transition away from the Cold War, the Gulf War, globalization, great power relations, terrorism, human rights, immigration, the wars throughout the Middle East, economic diplomacy, and environmental diplomacy.  We will examine some subjects for which it makes sense to extend our detailed analysis to dates prior to 1991.
