Students read, discuss, and emulate selected 21st-century texts in various genres and cross-genre hybrids. Among the things to focus on this quarter: identity, race, gender, ideology, isolation, alienation, abstraction. Taking cues from the assigned writers, students explore the possibilities of adopting uncomfortable perspectives, addressing (and challenging) others, imagining different ethical frameworks, and restaging scenes of daily life as encrypted dreamscapes. Lectures, discussions, and workshop activities will be conducted via Moodle and Zoom.
