This course will help you develop critical listening skills and a deeper understanding of the elemental and structural nature of music. We will explore how music is made, and how music has developed as an art form and popular entertainment. Music Fundamentals is designed for the non-music major as well as a preparation course for music major theory. We will cover a wide variety of musical styles and genres, learn to read music notation, study musical scales and rhythms, and develop simple songwriting skills.
