Political Science/International Studies 350 analyzes the nature and structure of the modern international state system, with reference to theory and practice. Emphasizes globalization and the impact of international developments on domestic politics.  PS/IS 350 is designed to serve as the foundational upper-division course for the broader study of world politics and international affairs.  Approved for University Studies Strand J. 

Upon the successful completion of IS/PS 350, students will be conversant in the central theories of international relations; understand the structure of the international system; and engage critically contemporary global challenges.  Students will exhibit improved critical thinking skills, demonstrate enhanced analytic writing abilities, and display superior oral communication skills.  Students will also understand institutions, assumptions, and values from national and global perspectives.  In particular, they will understand how historical, economic, social, and political conditions affect cultural values and beliefs, and will understand dynamics of power in the world situation from global perspectives.
