BA 385 is an introductory course in the principles of
corporate finance. As such, the primary
objectives are to familiarize students with the major financial decisions made
by managers of firms, the process for making those decisions, and to provide a
conceptual framework for understanding and analyzing those decisions. Major topics include the time value of money,
capital market history, valuation, capital investment decisions, risk, return, and
cost of capital. This is a course to teach all business students how to use
financial tools and to think critically and ethically to make better business
decisions. Specific assignments are also
designed to help business majors prepare for their capstone project.
