This course covers the administration and interpretation of observations, screening, documentation, and authentic assessment tools for ongoing development of infants, toddlers, and preschool children. The course examines curricula issues and intervention strategies related to service, delivery, and advocacy for young children.
The course studies current assessment approaches for young children within diverse contexts and the influence of individual, cultural, linguistic, ethnic, and racial differences as well as abilities/disabilities. It also considers ways of sharing meaningful assessment information to identify children in need of prevention and early intervention planning in collaboration with early childhood special educators and the family members
