This 4 credit course explores human anatomy with specific attention to key bones and muscles and associated mechanics of body movements relevant to adventure sports.
The class time for 2020 will be spent online in a virtual classroom, exploring the depths of our muscles, bones, joints and fascia and how they relate to performing our favorite outdoor sports.
We'll start with familiarizing ourselves with the planes of movement and terminology of bone, joint and muscle landmarks. Then move on to specific bones and muscles of the head, neck and spine and analyze movements of adventure sports that involve the use of these specific muscles. We'll then explore the other regions of the body (shoulder, arms, hips & legs), applying similar analysis of movements of those specific muscles in involved adventure sports.
The course will wrap up with the study or fascia (connective tissue), fascial lines and the role that they play in e movement of the human body.
