LEAD 591: School Law and Organization addresses federal, state, and local legal institutions and laws that affect schools. This component emphasizes governance and liability of schools.

In this course, students will be introduced to relevant and appropriate concepts of governance, law, and school improvement procedures and methods of measurement. Legal issues at the federal, state, and local levels that affect students, faculty, administration and community will be reviewed. Students will be expected to assess effective governance models, measurement techniques, and legal practices in school systems. Case studies will be reviewed that identify effective practices in governance, measurement, and law pertinent to their educational and professional goals.
