Measuring and managing global change impacts in grassland ecosystems

Set in the beautiful Sierra foothills, this Eco-Adventure will introduce students to the conservation, restoration, and management approaches to grassland and woodland ecosystems. We will explore the challenges presented by interacting global change pressures of drought, eutrophication, and changing grazing regimes. The class will be trained in ecological field methods, and work together to collect plant community, soil, and biomass data for a long-term experiment that is part of the globally-distributed DragNet experimental network.
