This one-week intensive course is designed for both beginning and experienced directors to learn new tools and strategies to effectively stage a scene. Through a series of hands-on activities in which you will alternate between the role of actor and director, you will hone your skills in casting, beat analysis, blocking, and working with actors.
Each day is broken into a morning and afternoon session. The morning sessions will feature activities and exercises that focus on specific directing skills, while the afternoon sessions will give students the opportunity to implement these skills by directing a 5-minute, three person scene that will be assigned prior to the start of the course. A homework assignment each night will help students prepare for the next day (with a giant-sized homework assignment on Monday that students will have the July 4th holiday to work on).
