Description: The Fall Session of the PAL program covers Continuous School Improvement looking at Models of Professional Governance, School Improvement, School Law, and School Finances.  While each weekend will highlight specific topics, content from each session is considered for the term. 

Objective: Analyze the relationships among people, organizational structures, law, policies, finances and processes that influence school improvement efforts. 

Professional Models of Governance considers the strategies used by educators as they manage and cope with the numerous innovations and refinements to teaching and learning required in today's schools.  This component of the Fall Session focuses on the principles governing the improvement process.

School Improvement Measurement provides students with a repertoire of school improvement measurement strategies that may be used for profiling students' outcomes as part of developing a school improvement plan.  Measurement issues considered will include the purposes and products of school improvement and possible applications of these measures for school improvement plans.

School Law and Organization addresses federal, state, and local legal institutions and laws that affect schools.  This component of the Fall Session emphasizes governance and liability of schools.

School Finances addresses overall school funding structure and budgeting processes.
